Danny Ray Stiltner was born in Detroit, MI in 1960 to the late Blake (Bobby) Stiltner and Rva Perrine Stiltner.  Danny is married to Patty Baker Stiltner and have two children. Danny Jr, 23, is the bass player for David Adkins Band, and Shelley, 19, attends Univeristy of Kentucky.  Danny was an underground coal miner for 17 years, until a mining accident caused an early retirement in 1995.  He now works security part time when not on the raod with The Kevin Prater Band.

Danny has been playing music since an early age, in school bands, rock bands, and bluegrass bands.  He has been privileged to play with artists such as Larry Fuller, Tommy Webb, Ralph Stanley II, and Dave Evans, among others.

Danny's Bass playing is a modern day sound that reflects on players like Tom Gray, Marshall Wilborn, Bob Moore and Roy Husky Jr. just to name a few.  His knowledge of the music and sense of timing make him one of the finest Bass players of all times. His father Blake was highly regarded as one of the greatest Bass players to come out of eastern Ky. Danny is carrying on in his father's footsteps and passing his talent on to his son.

Danny has known Kevin since he was a child and feels honored to be part of the Kevin Prater Band.  Danny's definition of each member of the band? "Amazing!"  Danny makes his home in Elkhorn City, KY where he enjoys playing upright bass, collecting and shooting guns, and most of all spending time with his family.
